Life on the Aleutian Chain will be transformed come 2022 when GCI launches initial AU-Aleutians Fiber Project service. Our team is currently working through marine survey projects and planning for local fiber installation and they feel lucky to work on a project where they are surrounded by the rugged landscapes, bountiful waters, and the rich history of the Unangax̂ and Alutiiq Alaska Native cultures. GCI recently hosted its Aleutian Photo Contest & Ultimate Giveaway on social media, which received more than 100 entries displaying images of lush tundra, wildflowers, sea mammals, and a window into the daily lives of those Alaskans who call the Aleutians home. Though fiber service will be a gamechanger for customers, health care, education and industry in the region, we think life looks pretty perfect there right now. Check out the winners below!
